
A: Level 3 covers everything in Level 4 except mechanical advantage rope systems (e.g., 3:1, 5:1, pig rigs). These systems are specifically used to help unpin rafts and kayaks on the river.

Depending on your comfort level and experience with ropes, either the Level 3 or Level 4 course could be appropriate. If you have prior experience with ropes—such as from climbing, canyoneering, or working with knots—you should be comfortable jumping into a Level 4 course.


A: Even though Moab can be quite warm the water averages around 45 in the spring and around 50-55 in the summer and fall. We recommend students wear thermal layers that protect their arms, legs and feet. Farmer John wetsuits are available by request. Closed toed shoes are REQUIRED to participate.
